GW Bridge

Born in Inwood Section of Manhattan, New York City and raised in the suburbs, I began drawing at a very young age. My father, a NYC police officer, inspired me with his sketched drawings of the George Washington Bridge always bringing home a new pack of crayons when I was not in school due to the common cold, etc. The sniffles were never so wonderful !

At age 15, I entered a drawing contest winning the grand prize, a $50,000.00 scholarship to an accredited art school. Unfortunately, when it was discovered that I was 15 and not 18 (as the contest rules indicated) I was disqualified... So as the tears years went by, life went on.... I spent 11 years in the insurance field and then 22 years in the legal field and always held on to my first joy, drawing and painting for 'me'. Being self taught through the years, I admire the works of the French Masters such as Renoir as Monet and as well as the Hudson River Valley Painters like Frederic Church and Thomas Cole.

In 1992 I created Hobbyville Graphics & Design bringing FREE graphics to the world wide web at Hobbyville.com and continue to do so today. (check out the 'Graphic Extras' Section)

NOW in this new millenium, the children are grown and it's 'back to basics' bringing out that old paintbrush and canvas to create art in the real world on canvas and paper.

I hope you enjoy visiting Hobbyville and thank you for your patronage.
